To the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society and the Helena, AR Congregation,
In the book "The Truth That Leads to Eternal Life" people are encouraged to closely examine the religion which they are a part of to see if it is the true faith in the eyes of God. We, along with numerous others, have closely examined, from both sides of the proverbial aisle, the Jehovah's Witness beliefs. The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society pays lip service to encouraging their "members" to examine closely what they teach, but the reality is that those who do closely examine the beliefs of the Jehovah's Witnesses are disfellowshipped and shunned, as if they are a cancer, before others can follow their example. According to the Governing Body, unity is demanded of ALL followers and dissent must be forcibly crushed by "readjusting the thinking" and/or "taking the appropriate judicial action" (meaning disfellowshipping). In 1980, a letter was sent out to all overseers stating that even a belief in something which differs from official teachings were grounds for disfellowshipping and the label of "apostate" (Crisis of Conscience, pages 341-2). Even if the person believes what the Bible says over Watchtower teachings, this is grounds for disfellowshipping and the label of "apostate". The so-called "god" with the title "Jehovah" is extremely arbitrary and capricious and the average Jehovah's Witness is so terrorised that they are afraid to do anything unless it is specifically spelled out and permission is granted in the pages of the literature. But even then this permission is not absolute because the fickle-minded beliefs may, and usually will, change as the feeble-minded Governing Body, who often fall asleep during their extremely short policy meetings, waffle back and forth regarding the teachings.
In the July 1, 1943 Watchtower (pages 204-6), it is claimed that "the Lord" gave organisation instructions and quotas for time in "field service". The Governing Body claims to be the only visible mouthpiece for god, yet they have made numerous predictions which have failed to come true. They have set dates, three of which were 1914, 1925 and 1975, for the return of Jesus Christ. If they truly were the conduit through which the the TRUE God spoke, then their "predictions" would have ALL come true!!! In the Bible (Deuteronomy 18: 20-22), it calls for the death of whomever gives false predictions. It further states NOT to be afraid of the false prophets or their threats. Yet the Governing Body states that people MUST accept their false prophecies and misleading statements or they will be disfellowshipped. In the book "In Search of Christian Freedom" (page 97), Ray Franz states "the whole history of the Watchtower organisation showed it's reliance on unfavourable world conditions as confirmation of it's claims." This stimulates the member's expectations and fills them with urgency. Later, when the "predictions" fail, the organisation blames the members for having these expectations.
The Watchtower (February 1, 1952, pages 79-80) states that "we should meekly go along with the Lord's theocratic organisation." It further refers to "the organisation" that mothered us." Anyone who points out "Mother's" errors is considered to be lacking in humility by "taking over the duties of the faithful and discreet slave", which is the name by which the Governing Body styles itself.
According to the February 15, 1976 Watchtower (page 124), failing to submit to the organisation is equated with rejecting God. The so-called "chain of command" was visually demonstrated in the December 15, 1971 Watchtower (page 749). But this is not the reality since the Governing Body has set itself up on the top of the authority structure in 1976 when the organisational power was transferred from one man, N. H. Knorr, to the collective religious council which became known as the Governing Body.
When questions are raised that are the result of serious investigation and knowledgeable thinking which involve questioning the organisation's teachings, the questioner and motives are attacked instead of addressing the question (In Search of Christian Freedom, page 358). It truly cannot be called freedom of belief when the members must exercise constant vigil about revealing their true thoughts and feelings to others, especially when these "brothers" and "sisters" can and will report to the elders anyone who shows doubts. There have been reports of Witnesses gaining employment with doctors, and other places, and making copies of confidential records to give to the elders. (In Search of Christian Freedom, pages 365-385)
The organisation teaches that Jesus Christ dies as a "ransom sacrifice" for the "sins" of mankind. (What Does the Bible Really Teach?, pages 47-56) This teaching is erroneous for two reasons:
1. Universal Cosmic Law states that one person CANNOT atone for the sins of others, whether they have already been committed or will be committed at some future date. This law does not submit to the will and whim of some Governing Body.
2. Jesus was married at the time of his so-called death. His wife, Mary Magdelene, was pregnant with his daughter when he was "crucified". They later had 2 sons: Jesus II Justus (born in 37 AD) and Joseph (born in 44 AD). Joseph was born in Gaul (France) after Mary was forced to flee Judea. Their descendants still live today although only a select few are in favour with the Creator God. --
Recently I asked a Jehovah's Witness what they thought of this and he, quite intolerantly, referred to it as garbage. The true garbage is that which issues out of the collective mouths of the Governing Body.
On many mornings, especially Saturdays and holidays, a convoy of four-door vehicles will swarm into neighbourhoods like an invading army and, even though uninvited and unwanted, attempt to intimidate and force people into accepting their literature and a "free" home Bible study. They use terrorising scenarios in order to manipulate and scare the householder into becoming Jehovah's Witnesses. The TRUE Creator God never destroys his creation, he merely places them into another place where they will live again (karma) until they grow into enlightenment sice he does not desire anyone to perish (Matthew 18:14).
In chapter 2 of "Learn From the Great Teacher", it teaches that the Bible is a letter from God, who speaks to everyone this way. Yet in the Watchtower (October 1, 1967, page 587), it teaches that the Bible belongs to the organisation and that no one is capable of understanding it unless their thinking is "in line" which the organisation. The Governing Body (Watchtower, February 15, 1981) stated: "We all need help to understand the Bible, and we cannot find the scriptural guidance we need outside the "faithful and discreet slave" organisation (which was only founded in 1881). Many people understood the Bible before 1881 and are continuing to do so WITHOUT literature from the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.
If you do decide to "punish" us for "apostasy", please be advised that it is NOT valid in the eyes of the TRUE Creator God (who is NOT titled "Jehovah"), of whom you neither know nor worship!!! Furthermore, we neither accept nor recognise your organisation's self-styled "authority" to "discipline" us or anyone else for not whole-heartedly and unreservedly believing the myriad of dates that have passed by in which you have falsely prophesied, in the name of God, events such as Christ's return, which conveniently became invisible when the dates passed without incident. When the dates failed to produce the desired predictions, there were articles and talks which blamed and chastised the people for "running ahead of the organisation" and having expectations of which the Governing Body is jointly and severally responsible for causing!!! The True Creator God does not give specific dates that cause great excitement. The reason for this is because, in the Higher Realms, time runs differently than it does on Earth, therefore it does not have the same meaning that it does for humans. It is events which will announce the time, NOT specific dates.
The "god" who is worshipped and feared by the Jehovah's Witnesses is nothing more than a giant publishing company began in 1881 and has multi-Billion dollar landholdings WORLDWIDE!!! The books which they publish constantly encourage people, including the UNPAID "employees", known as "pioneers" and "publishers", to closely examine what they believe. Many witnesses, including us, have done just that and are labeled as "apostates" and shunned.
We are not in need of your approval since the TRUE Creator God has smiled upon us in favour because we are doing what HE truly wants us to do. He has guided us to the TRUE beliefs and words!!! That is why whatever "decree" or "edict" that is issued and whatever "label" that is placed upon us will neither phase us nor be valid in the sight of the TRUE God!!! We will NOT apologise for either this letter or our course of action since to do so would negate this letter and make it seem as if we were remorseful for believing differently from the "organisation".
The aforementioned reasons which have been stated in this letter are why we are formally resigning from the giant publishing company known as the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania and ANY and ALL of it's subsidiary companies.
