What if the scroller on the Free Minds site doesn't work on your computer?

Alternate Daily Net Soup listings here (in case your computer doesn't allow Java scripts)

NOTE 10/05/04 for users of Zone Alarm:

Many are having problems with Zone Alarm 5.0 or higher, especially with images and Java scripts like the one used in the freeminds.org scroller window. They key is to UNINSTALL Zone Alarm 5.0 and reinstall version 4.5, available from the link below:

Other reasons:

The main two reasons that the scroller may not work on your computer, or that when you click on the "more" at the bottom of each entry it does not take you to the link, are as follows:

1. If you are using any type of software firewall such as Zone Alarm or Norton Security firewalls, you may have your settings to block "pop-up ads." While the scroller is not a "pop-up ad," it does use the same java technology and so is often blocked by such firewalls. You can adjust your firewall not to block pop-ups or banner ads and it will work fine. Or, if you do not wish to change your settings, you can most likely go to the link by simply holding down your CONTROL button on the keyboard while you click on the "more" button in the scroller. It's as simple as that.

2. The second most obvious problem is that you don't have the latest Java update for your computer, or it is not installed at all. You can get a quick and free update HERE.

A third possibility is that you have Java blocked in your Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape browser settings. For the newer Internet Explorer, you can click on "Tools" while the browser is open, choose "internet options," then the ADVANCED tab, and under Microsoft VM make sure the Java console is enabled.
