 Charles Taze Russell's instructions for his funeral:
I desire to be buried in the plot of ground owned by our Society, in the Rosemont United Cemetery, and all the details of arrangements respecting the funeral service I leave in the care of my sister, Mrs. M. M. Land, and her daughters, Alice and May, or such of them as may survive me, with the assistance and advice and cooperation of the brethren, as they may request the same. Instead of an ordinary funeral discourse, I request that they arrange to have a number of the brethren, accustomed to public speaking, make a few remarks each, that the service be very simple and inexpensive and that it be conducted in the Bible House Chapel or any other place that may be considered equally appropriate or more so. For those wishing to visit the gravesite: The area is the North Hills area of Pittsburgh. It is in the "Rosemont United Cemeteries at Allegheny, in the Bethel Family plot, according to his request." (Jehovah's Witnesses In The Divine Purpose, 1959, p. 62) The street is named Cemetery Lane. It is where BABCOCK BLVD and MCKNIGHT RD intersect. McNight Rd is a large freeway. There is a Babcock Blvd exit off of McKnight Road. Go West on Babcock Blvd. Cemetery Lane will be a left turn off of Babcock. The pyramid is BEFORE you get to the top of the hill on the right side. You can see it from the road. It is maybe 30 to 40 feet into the cemetery. Or, simpler directions for others: Take Interstate 179 to Exit 12, which is Cemetery Lane. Totheleft is the headstone above Russell's grave. Note that he was viewed as the seventh, or "Laodician Messenger" to the Churches (Revelation 3:14) The first six are listed as: St. Paul, St. John, Arius, Waldo, Wycliffe, Luther. (The Finished Mystery, Karatol edition, 1918, p. 64)

Russell wrote are hidden away in the Watchtowers library an only a few chosen are allowed to enter this library. The only thing that matters is what does the bible say. Jehovah's Witnesses have changed many of their ideas and progressed to where they stand today. JWs do not defend Russell's teachings but acknowledge that he and others did not have as complete an understanding as JWs do now. Russell is not considered to be prophet whose word should change what the bible teaches. That would be like the Catholics and Baptist who have taken the divine name Jehovah out of the Bible. report abuse

The WBTS has a pisture of the gavestone in the book "proclaimers of god's kingdom" pg. 64 but it doesn't show the pyramid. Something to note that might help people with family trapped in the same dilusion as my mother: The WBTS makes it known that Jesus came to inspect the organization in 1918 (invisibly....LOL) and found it to be clean. Finding what they taught in 1918 is KEY to deprogramming a JW. They will say that "the light gets brighter!" Thinking people can easily refute this claim, as it is true that the same can be said of all religions. report abuse

I was raised as a Witness, got baptized as one at age 12, and finally left -at will- when I was 26 but it wasn't because I found "the truth" with the Catholics, or the Born Again Christians,(although I have to admit it would be easier and more fun to belong to one these other "Christian" groups - you don't have to do anything just "believe in your heart" and you can do whatever you want) or the Mormons, or any of the non-"Christian" religious groups. Every religious group -regardless of their name- CLAIMS they represent "the true god" and have "the truth" and everyone else is wrong and condemned to "destruction" or "hell". So, where do you go if you are one of those needy people who need to be part of a group or church to feel good? I am not one of those people but I see many, many, many people are like that. It seems like some of you were sent to earth and assigned the duty of taking your families and other people out of false religions and that must be a fantastic assignment ... I just wonder after showing your mothers and sisters --these grave's pictures, for instance --- as more evidence of what you have been telling them and excitedly proving to them ---again --- your point .... I also left the JW because something in my heart was telling me something was wrong, and as i grew up i saw the fruits of this religion , and the fruit was rotten. i didn't make it that way it just is. So i understand these people who are exposing their families or friends of the hypocrisy , but yes where do we go. So one thing you have to do is unbrainwash yourself from everything you know and learned. Since you were brought up JW since youth you started on a bad road already, so once you've let go of this religion being the "one" true religion then you will be able to move on. The next step is to unlearn their translation on their bible, and i say their bible cause they use the word " Jehovah" as a label, if they could put it on a shirt , they would. Do you really thing we could even understand or even interpret the name of the one true god just because they say theyve translated it that way, that is very scary and egocentric cause if it isn't, then who have you been praying to and worshipping. The story of also the jews deliberately translating to yhwh to a watered down version that is jehovah was that they didn't want to get in trouble for interpreting the name of god wrong and the JW,s translated that word for their own .gen 28:13- i am jehovah the god of abraham your father and the god of isaac. Find yourself an Authorized Version of The Holy Bible, not copy-written, stay away from zondervan or their parent, since they publish the satanic versus also, i think that would be a conflict , wouldn't you, and start from the beginning and start learning Jesus teaching all over , and you will see that you wont find a tribe of people or a group or religion, that it will be a narrow road of a few who will know Christ and once you break the bonds of "works" and having to work your way into heaven, doesn't coincide with the two that were on the cross of stake or tree next to jesus, and the one who just believed that he was the christ and christ telling him he would be by his side in heaven for just having faith, thats all you need. sounds like a fairy tale, but you've brainwashed into thinking that you have to be accounted on a point system that the watchtower will deem you worthy if you go door to door everyday or to everyone in the world, then the end will come. What they call "The Truth" is their own version of the truth, not the Bible truth. They have a way of manipulating what they call Bible truth to make them sound so good and real. They fit the words of Jesus recorded in the Bible that states, "They make the Word of God invalid by their traditions". I am now reading the Bible and really understanding for the first time. The Society does not encourage deep Bible reading. They want you to believe what they teach, like all tdhose lies about the end of tshe world. 1874, 1914, 1925,1975 and many others. What a bunch of phonies. Do your own homework before you get involved with them. They say they will study the Bible with you and then pull out a man-made book to study, not the Bible. The switch tactic. The put on a good act as being real christians, but watch out. They will stab you in the back in a split second given the chance. I found out the hard way. But these JW's do not have any freedom to think for themselves. If they were to question the organization, they would be looked down upon. In that case, that is just plain stupidity on the part of the organizstion, afraid of being question. When we question anything in our lives, it is to come to an understanding and to fulfill knowledge. It is on the part of the Organization that lacks security that they are being questioned about their beliefs. There is nothing wrong in questioning the beliefs and the existence of God and His Son Jesus Christ. To disfellowship, to disassociate anyone just because they asked, or for any other type of wrongdoing...is the most dangerous behaviour man can apply to another human being. Man must learn to forgive and forget another's transgression. And on the blood issue...it is time to get real, JW's. Blood that flows within the human body is a major component in keeping a person alive. In my opinion, JW's are a controlling religious group of people who really don't allow any freedom for growth, spiritual growth, mental and emotional growth. What I read in Shaun's research on JW's of what you cannot do, reaaly surprised. Some of it is trivial that JW's cannot do and not based on reality. I enjoyed watching on TV " Touched By An Angel". From the time Mr Russell started till now, there has been a tramendous corection and improvement. Yes non of these men were perfect, but they tried to discover the bible and now the withnesses are trying as imperfect people to go according to the bible. If you look at their fruits,(works) you would see that they are truly following the bible to the best of their ability..and not one is following any maisonic teachings..so that was a false accusation on Mr Russel, even the maisonic group admits that...yes THE LIGHT IS GETTING BRIGHTER AND BRIGHTER.  written by steve remington , March 27, 2010 My story involves a family that survived substantial poverty,serial dislocation,negligence and abuse only to be weighed down by a legacy of heavy chains hung around our necks by a murderous jw father who died recently by his own hand. He managed as an elder of his Morinville,Alberta,Canada congregation to drive a permanent wedge into our family in an effort to ostracize the unbelievers before he took his life. He was assisted in this task by my younger brother who was also an elder of the same congregation. Just over a decade ago a novella entitled My Autobiography appeared in the mailboxes of myself and all of my siblings. It caused and continues to cause serious ramifications throughout my family (If I can still call it that). The book declared myself and all my siblings to be bastards(yes he actually used that term) fathered by a motley collection of characters. He declared that my mother was a whore. He was emboldened by the fact that mother had recently passed away. He was in retrospect a lucky man since had she been alive she would not have needed the assistance of any elders to sort him out. He saved the worst assassination for me since I was the most vocal "opposer of the truth". I was declared to be an inbred bastard fathered by my grandfather. No supporting evidence was provided. The only sibling declared to be a bona fide child was coincidentaly the JW elder. My father completed grade three in his home country of Yugoslavia and learned English from my mother as a refugee in the UK. It is quite clear therefore that he could not have written these scribblings by himself. He received substantial assistance from my brother the elder who himself obtained only a grade nine education and was unboubtedly assisted by his jw wife who is a legal secretary. The first paragraph contained a disclaimer. Does it seem odd to you that such poorly educated men would be chosen for such a trusted role. A number of legal precedents hold that these men exercise influence comparable to doctors and lawyers. My brother remains an honored elder in his congregation even though the society was made fully aware of his conduct. These men appear either to be devoid of moral compasses or so illiterate that they are unable to digest anything with more than the couple of dozen words that are repeated ad nauseam in their publications. Maybe my brother is truly functionally illiterate and thus unable to write a letter of apology or maybe in his exalted position he is just unable to admit that he screwed up big time. It would appear to this humble scribe that the JW organization is intersted in Jesus only insofar as he can be saddled and bridled and ridden like a rodeo horse which is in essence not unlike similar right wing groups who use Jesus' teachings only when and if it benefits them financially or furthers their ideological agenda. report abuse

Why not be open about it, and tell people, and put it in your literature? Obviously they've moved on from the whole Pyramid idea now, but being a Witness my whole life I had never even heard of the Pyramids being a part of the religion. It's a bit hypocritical really because if you do something wrong as an individual you are expected to be open, honest, upfront and come out with it, but the organization can pick and choose what they reveal, or with things like this sweep it under the rug, and hide it. I'm a big believer in where there is smoke there is fire. As a member I wouldn't be as concerned about the fact he's buried in such a place, I'd be more concerned as why the organization hides the fact. I read some really old Watchtowers from a collector and let me tell you they were full of Pyramid related ideas and drawings. But as a Witness I had never even heard about these. report abuse

And i'm sorry to say "that some of you should be asshamed". Now I was also born and raisd in the truth and right now im inactive, and i've been inactive for about 14 years but that doesn't mean I don't believe in Jehovah and Jesus Christ. This caught me by surprise, when I seen that Charlse T. Russell was buried there with that pyramid there and yes I seen the cross also. I agree, this was definately a mistake by Charlse and anyone else that was involved with this. Yes it is a symbol of satanic worship along with crosses and idol worship accross the entire wolrd. The question is "are we still involved with anything of the such"?. Remember Jehovah is a jealous God. Doesn't matter what someone else has done in the past, wrong or right. We still have to maintain a personal relationship with Jehovah regardless of the fact about Charsle T. Russell. Hey he found something wrong with religon back then and he tried to change it. Thats it.... Doesn't mean that we worship him for doing that, no it means that we take heed to what he was trying to do and make the neccesary adjustments. Trust me this really caught me by surrprise. I have never even heard of this befor in 30 years of me reading the bible and witness publications. But remember satan uses anything to run you away from Jehovah and from having a personal relationship with God. I suggest that who ever finds these things about Charsle not let it destract you from what is still going on in the world (sickness, old age, death, men beeing lovers of money and themselves, women lying with women, ect....). The German W sounds like our V. The word Jehovah was invented by a German Roman Catholic scholar called Peter Galatinus in the 16th centuary. Try doing a search on that name. He took the German letters JHWH and mixed them with the vowels of Adonai. Because the first vowel was short he reasoned he could change it to E. Jesus said now we can address God as Father. JW's please also look up Beth Sarim where Rutherford lived in luxury during the 1930's when others arround him were in great poverty. I also know of the terrible effect this religion has on children. My sister is a JW and none of her children follow her belief. If it's somebody choice on how they want to sever God, then why does it matter to anyone eles? They are the ones who has to survive beeing judge by God..... We all will be judged despite of who's false or not.... We can't judge each other because the other person chooses to serve God their way.... Like I keep saying "YOU HAVE TO SERVE GOD FOR YOU"! Hey you only can show somebody from your prerspective and that's it.... You can't make somebody do something they don't want to do...... Jesus died for EVERYBODY, to give everyone a chance to live...... That is something to appreciate, he didn't have to do it.... he could have said " they are only humans, why do i have to suffer for them. They were the ones who didn't listen.. They disobeyed.?.. But he didn't he died for all..... I know that everybody has thier own oppions but bottom line people,,,, there is a God and we all need to get it together and stop fighting over who's serving God better than anyone else..... And Jehovah isn't how you pronounce God's real name, yes you are right J TOWNSOND but,,,,, just like hello is holla in espanol..Right?... It was just a translation and we still use translations in english today.... It's a way to communicate so that everyone can understand in their own language,, that's all.... no big deal.... there is more serious things to worry about than pronouncing God's name right... That's all the bible is telling us...... If we sin, then ask for forgivness and try not to do it again..... Nobody is perfect, the flesh is weak... God knows that already..... We inheridited something from adam and eve.... See we know right from wrong.... Knowing good and bad..... It's not like we don't know when we are messing up, we can feel it..... It's our free will to deny God or not..... Remember Job in the bible? The devil tested him to the extreme, but did he deny God? no he didn't, he keep is intergrity the entire time... And then he was blessed because God knew that he withstanded the temptations of the devil..... We need to do the same thing today.... The have changed once again the doctrine of the last generation. Its 2010, their last generation should all be dead by now, but in a latest watchtower they no profess that they might add another 60 years cause they dont really know. My question is , theyve used 1914 to equate a date that is still taught and they believe is still significant for their religion, if that date doesnt come to prove true , then you will finally see the end of this religion as you know it. Another fact about this false religion, rutherford bought a mansion in san diego ca, for the return of issac , moses and abraham , which they thought the end was coming soon, which rutherford died before to see the end of the world and the mansion in san diego sold, funny just like joseph smith, ......stay tuned for the end of this false religion or maybe not , it might flourish like the mormons by the minute..... report abuse

When the organization came into existence in the late 1800's, how come the light wasnt already "BRIGHT" then? Would God allow an organization of "truth" start off "dim" with incorrect lighting? How many distortions of so-called "truth" does it take for an organization to get it together correctly when representing the one and only true God Jehovah? How many members must get "disfellowshipped" because of organization mishaps on so-called "truth" because "the light wasnt bright" then but got brighter as time went along? So what happens when the organization sees the new so-called "BRIGHT LIGHT", do they contact their former members that they disfellowshipped and tell them that they were wrong on some matters and the "light" they thought was right ended up being incorrect? At the end of the day, its about having a personal relationship with God and not a personal relationship with The Watchtower and Tract Society !! Now when we take the bible no matter which one translated or not. yours or mine.We read from Genesis to Revelation we learn the good things and the bad things that are not acceptable to God. But still its our decision to make. At the end of the day each is accountable for his own action. Now, whatever you believe in, is your own business. Now if i would like to share something that i know because i feel it was important information, its up to you to decide if you want that information. Now JESUS came to this earth he didnt convert everyone. But he did leave his teaching. He did choose twelve disciples all from different background.And he left his teachings with them and i know that he knew what the end result would be. I always had my doubts about the bible. all religions only read you the pretty verses of the bible. they will always skip the disgusting things about the god of the bible. eden was a magical garden where reptiles could speak trees with magic powers. god cutting the legs off of an innocent reptile used by satan. putting 2 angels with spinning swords to guard the tree of life so adam and eve couldn't eat from it and live forever. where did god pull this two soldiers, were they fighting in heaven? i thought everything was perfect in heaven. god invented the sword. god knows everything. if we will deny him 3 times before we are challanged. except that if we want to accept him. he hasn't brought a perfect earth because he doesn't know if we want to change religion. he knows every name of every star in the universe, except if we want to be saved. he created the universe but could not help moses speak. Hey actually ater reading all of this I don't even know what to believe anymore because I have done some research and I found that all religions believe that they have the true religion. And what I don't understnad is why God allows this... People are willing to die for their religion because they believe it's true.... But as we dig deeper into religion we can see that alot of them are flawed not only JW.... Like I said a long time ago I'm inactive for a reason, inactive from the congregation but not from God..... I never said I was inactive from God.... I'm still looking for answers and I still believe that The true God is Jehovah and his son's name is Jesus.... I was a pioneer, went to bethel and personaly talked to the governing body, actually pretty cool dudes.. I had some realy messed up things happen. I went through my dealings with God. I finally sorted through that all. I don't blame God anymore, becuase at one time I did. For the most part my problems and failures are on account of me. Of all the crittics I have read here, you all sound so bitter, angry and bitchy. Everytime that I would walk out of a district convention and I would see the people outside screaming and acting like assholes, I would allways smirk, because the fact is that they supposedly wanted to set us free from the devil. Let's attach this from a logical standpoint. When you want to pursuade someone, do you yell at them and tell them to join your bethel church or some shit that is ten times more fucked up! I am no longer a wittness. the reason being that I dont want to be a hypocrite. Walk the walk, talk the talk. It's not for pussies!!! It's not some sunday club you join to sip tea and tell your kids fluffy clouds kick ass. It is a way of life that you choose, becuase you have proved god and his ways to yourself, and you are willing to follow his principles wherevever they lead you. Knowone comes to your door, kicks it down and says "accept God bitch!" You make an educated decision of your own accord! Does that make any sense? And for all the people that bitch about disfellowshiping. Do you read your fucking bible that you say you love and follow? Do you even know the purpose of getting df'ed? It isn't out of cruelty, nor is it permanant. It is meant to bring a person back to their senses, as well asprotect others from bad asscoiation. Would you want your children to hang around someone that you know to be a bad influence at that time I mean really! I know all this becuase i was disfellowshipped, then I went back. You only get df'ed if you do something that you shouldnt do, according to the personal contract you make between you and God. So you are telling me that you can aggree to basic life principles in this figurative contract and then go comepletely against it and it's all cool. And for the sake of space. If their is anything that anyone doesnt get or like about jw's then investigate them at the source. Otherwise if you judge them from the outside without personal understanding, the it is the same as me going and saying crap about your family without knowing the actual reasons behind actions, I would be pretty ignorant wouldn't I? I left the jw's on my own accord and I stand on my own. When my day of death comes whether by God's hand or nature's I will be smilling and luaphing. Most people that I have seen leave have to try and destroy others faith so they dont have to stand on their own. If you are going to not be a jw or any other religeon that you beleive to be true, dont be a pussy and try make someone elses day bad. Stand accept whatever comes.
