Witnesses take polio victim to assembly and dies

Just thought you might be interested in how I lost one of my older brothers to the JW zealots. My whole family were JWs. Shortly after I was DFd at age 15, my brother contacted polio. Since it was against the WT teachings to be innoculated, he wa the victim of the org's stupidity. I'm sure it was divine revelation that instructed the leadership to match wits with the microbiologists. Another example of the way science and religions was supposed to agree. Anyway Jerry, my brother, was treated in the University of Washington hospital under an experimental treatment program. His 22 year old body responded well and he was able to be taken out of the iron lung and be on oxygen within 18 months. It was time for one of those many Conventions that JWs go to and my mother was anxious for everyone to know my brother was doing well. One of the elders got the goofy idea that it would be in Jehovah's interest to have Jerry attend the convention. The doctor was aghast and said by no means should be taken as it would expose him to infective agents that his immune system was incapable of handling. The results could be life threatening. But elders know best and my parents were urged to bring him to the convention. By the third day he was totally exhausted and began struggling for breath. Seems he was running a fever too.

He was rushed back to the hospital and put back into the iron lung whereupon he asxphixiated on his own vomit. Still don't know how the family continues to blame the doctors and the hospital while continuing to look with sin-covering eye at the WTBTS org.

One more horror story to add to the Arizona tragedy.

Subject: blood issue

Comments: About 8 months ago, I was chatting to a woman on AOL who was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Although I am not a Jehovah's Witness, I had a question to ask her regarding the Watchtower August 1, 1995 p. 30. This is regarding an article entitled, "Blood Transfusions Reconsidered."

I made a general statement that I had heard that the brothers at Bethel were "possibly" recieving new light concerning the blood issue. She told me that that was not possible. I then asked her for her opinion concerning the above mentioned article. Mind you, we were in a public chatroom and the others on-line stopped typing to see her response. Here is the quote we were discussing. "Because of such dangers, the center for bloodless surgery utilizes alternatives to blood transfusions, including the reinfusion of ones own blood - a technique that some Witnesses might find unobjectionable." I asked her what does the word some mean? Does it mean 10%, 20%, 40%?

And what does "unobjectionable" mean? She then told me on-line, in the chatroom for everyone to see, that the article did not say that. I then said, Do you have a copy of the Watchtower? She said yes. I then told her to copy down what the article said, and that to be carefull because all of us watching might have the same article-so be honest. She copied down the article. And...low and behold, was truthful. I reminded her that the angels give direction to the Faithful and Discreet Slave class as to what to write in the Watchtower and that the above mentioned article must represent truth, right? She conceded that that was true.

After about 15 minutes of chatting, she conceded that it was okay for the 10%, 20% and 40% of Jehovah's Witnesses to have their own blood reinfused!
