![]() written by Danny Haszard , January 14, 2010 Randy I applaud your blog! Remember folks- The origin of all Watchtower teachings that makes them unique over all other religions is their creed of Jesus second coming 'invisibly' in the year 1914. Why? The Jehovah's Witnesses actually have roots with the Seventh Day Adventist, they both have common origin in the William Miller apocalyptic movement of the 18th century. Of course here in 2009 it is quite a stretch to proclaim Jesus advent in 1914 then try to explain "invisible" emperor's new clothes fashion, why everything is all still messed up in the world. So often the JW revisionist apologist will play the blame game and say 1914 second coming is an invention of ' disgruntled apostates'. Major failed teaching means Watchtower game over. -- Danny Haszard report abuse

written by Blueeyes 54 , January 15, 2010 The Watchtower organization is still not apologetic for their miscalculation of 1935 and the focus on an earthly hope verses the heavenly. The anointed have been treated very badly over this miscalculation. If this is an attempt to finally include those who became anointed after 1935, it is too late. Many have been disfellowshipped on accusations of apostasy for their stand of anointing. Apostates are rarely if ever reinstated. Matthew 25:45. Those who appose Christ"s brothers and sisters are "evil slave". Matthew 24:48-51 report abuse

written by agonus , January 15, 2010 Are they serious? And the only Scripture they use to back this up is an Exodus quote about Joseph and his brothers being a "generation"? It's like they're not even trying anymore. report abuse

written by Sevan , January 15, 2010 I'm going to assume that they meat to push the date back from 2014 as a "nail in the coffin" date of one generation to somewhere past two full lifetimes since 1914. Wow! What's the youngest anointed person, like 45 or something? The more new anointed that pop up because of those that "lose the crown" the longer the generation lasts. report abuse

written by Anonymous1975 , January 16, 2010 So now it is official. They've bought themselves another 60 years easily. Fred Franz was "anointed" when 1914 occurred - if I recall correctly, he was baptized in 1913, and that's all it took, in those days, to become "anointed". Freddy died in 1992. So anyone born before 1992, whose life "overlapped" that of Freddy, and who later becomes anointed, is part of that "generation". Somewhere, there's a 20 year old kid who in 15 or 20 years will begin partaking of the emblems (if he hasn't done so already - the number keeps going up). In the cushy, relatively stress free life of Bethel, he could live to age 80, 90, even 100 easily (as Barber did & soon Barr will). That takes us out to at least 2070. Stay alive 'til 75...2075 that is! report abuse

written by joydh , January 16, 2010 I've been a Witness since only 1995 officially, but have seen many 'new understandings' in those few years... why would Jehovah allow his true worshipers to teach false doctrines? Why would he permit us to go door to door and make fools of ourselves by constantly changing our teachings? The light getting brighter is an over quoted scripture as far as I am concerned. Jesus' teachings were absolute and unerring.. he never taught anything false or misleading. The brothers would be better off admitting that they do NOT understand lots of the meanings of obscure texts and stop conjecturing. It would be more honest and humble... even Jesus' own disciples didn't understand most of what he said, and they really were in positions of special favour in my estimation.. Humility may be difficult for most, but better in the long run. report abuse

written by michael glenn , January 17, 2010 i have been a witness all my life i rememeber the 95 change i never did understand it realy then 2 years ago said it was the remnant now this i was born in 1980 so i remember when fred franz died in 1992 this could now extend past my own lifetime as the other person comented someone born at that time could later become of the remnant this could go on till about 2060 or 2070 its stil my belife they will maybey put the date of 2034 as a posibility a paralel of the flood 120 years since 1914 and that date would support this new thinking here be with in the time frame of the generation after the 1914 generatin im calling it the overlap doctrine i would think the temptation to set forth a date would be realy strong for the gb when you speak for god it would seem like you would want to make some great pronouncements all past generations of watchtower leadership has set for some date i dont know why this current one would be any different as another commenter on here said they should just be humble and say they dont know it seems obvious to me they have no idea when armogedon is going to be no one does the lord could come back tomorow but it wont be cause of what the watchtower said or anyone else the lord will act in his own time and we should just be humble and except his leading thank you report abuse

written by Nikola T. , January 17, 2010 I want to thank you for everything you have shown me through your site. My wife is in the organization and I have been working carefully and cautiously to help her understand what she is in. I do not want her to lose her faith in God but even my children are starting to feel uneasy around her fellow witnesses. She is fighting within herself because she feels pulled by her mother on one side and by me on the other. I use the information I find here to inform her and I am doing it without forcing it or in spite against them. I know fully understand what she is going through and she is starting to feel that something is missing within her faith. This new light news is going to help me arm myself against those that come to my house to inform me of how wrong I am and of how I am such a terrible person. Thank you for the informative site. report abuse

written by John , January 22, 2010 Jesus was not joking, if he said this generation then people around him understood as it was, there is no need to explian and get into panik, for God's children it doesn't matter when the end comes or how the tribulation is difficult, they still live as in New Jerusalem starting from now on, Jesus saves in the future yet he saves now too. Keep it simple! report abuse

written by Phil , January 24, 2010 This new "generation" change was bound to happen and even Ray Franz predicted it. This new change in the meaning is definately going to cause alot of people to start leaving. It's not fair to ones to keep changing the meaning just to buy out time. I'm glad I learned the "real truth" about the organization. I feel sorry for ones who will continue to slave for the false organization THE WATCHTOWER SOCIETY, especially the young ones. report abuse

written by Kristine , January 24, 2010 Randy, I found your web site about 1996 and it really helped get my own thinking straight about feeling fearful after leaving JWs. After being raised as a strict 3rd generation JW, I was essentially abandoned by my family when I decided to go to college. I had to find my own way in life and it was very tough all by myself. Trying to forge a life without any family support, is very confusing and darn painful. It took me 20 years to finally feel comfortable enough to release my guilt and even confront my mother (not that it's done any good or ever will!) Slowly my siblings and cousins joined me in departing JWs. Your research is crucial because it brings some rational thinking to a very irrational situation!! Your site saved me thousands in psychotherapy! Thank you for your hard work to get to the FACTS! k report abuse

written by Brad Jarrett , February 06, 2010 I was in the organization for over 40 years and have lost connection with 50 family members because of my non-beliefs of so much of the doctrines. Hopefully we can all use this again failing prophecy to extract our loved ones from a authoritative society. Many lives are being damaged by the mis-use of this authority in disfellowshipping and breaking up families, of the lives lost to another false interpretation, of the use of blood and mostly the lack of being able to have a relationship with Jesus and our heavenly Father. Let's continue to expose this organization for what it is! report abuse

written by Kevin laidlaw , February 18, 2010 I have to agree that the "light getting brighter" quote is getting old and tired. I find it amazing that the remnant population from one year to the next will increase and no one can question this. The WTS knows that their prophecies are not coming true and all those faithful old brothers and sisters who gave their time and life savings are dying off now without seeing armagedon. I was born and raised as a witness, DF'd 12 years ago with no contact from my JW family and friends. But I have never felt more free! Too bad it is such a waste of life. Its such a cult! report abuse

written by Seth Bishop , February 19, 2010 Before you call something a cult learn what a cult is. A cult follows 1 person and worships that person as a "Messiah" and usually sex acts are required. Also the Witnesses are the only religion following Jesus command to preach the good news of the kingdom in all the inhabited Earth.(Mathew 24:14) Not to disappoint all you naysayers but the religion keeps growing by leeps and bounds so don't expect the religion to collapse like some other followings. And by the way the ammount of those that profess to be of the annointed keeps going down every year. I'm not sure of the exact number but its around 2000 right now, and every year the number goes down as they die. Also the religion is not part of the 7 day Adventists or the Millerite movement which I believe was 19th century. In conclusion, anyone that thinks the world is a better place since 1914 has better check the facts. This world has become a downright scary place to live and no matter what men try it keeps getting worse. Any religion may make a mistake but overall what they teach is what matters. I am no longer a Witness but I couldn't in good faith let everything thats been said go unanswered. I know the Witnesses have made mistakes and they have admitted that much but what I think matters more is how they live their lives trying to emulate Jesus example. If other religions did the same there would be no wars and those that are starving would be fed, but alas other religions are in it for the money. I hope I've added a little bit of perspective but I realize that human nature being what it is most will keep nitpicking at every little thing Witnesses say. How about someone telling me who really has the truth and who shows us how to be better people. report abuse

written by cantleave , February 25, 2010 A generally recognised definition of a cult is:- is a group of people who follow one man or a group's spiritual teachings and practices that, when compared with orthodox Christian doctrine always contradict them, as well as exalt the group's own unique religious perspective as the only way to truly serve God. I think this sums Jehovah's Witnesses quite well. report abuse

written by Skin , February 26, 2010 Seth, your comments above show that you have been out of touch with Jehovah's Witness's for a very long time. The numbers of the annointed are going up, last count in 2008 there were 9986 and this is on the increase. Not 2000 like you said??. Your definition of a cult has more meaning to it. Do you not know what religion Charles Russell was in before he started publishing Zion's Watchtower? Maybe you need to start returning to the meetings to learn the facts... report abuse

written by Kitty , March 05, 2010 The Watchtower Society claims that all their changed beliefs have scriptural backing since the path of the righteous one is like a bright light that gets lighter and lighter until the day dawns. So God’s people today cannot be expected to have the correct understanding on the scriptures. Of course the Watchtower Society won’t use the word correct. Here’s how they explain it. God’s people can’t’ be expected to have a full understanding until the New System. In either case the argument exist that if God’s people today have to change their beliefs from time to time as the light get’s brighter, then wouldn’t that hold true for God’s people in the first century? How can we be sure that their understanding on matters was fully correct? The Watchtower society applies the (righteous one) in that scripture to God’s People. So it would have to apply to God’s People in the first congregations. So then how can we be sure that serious issues like the blood issue which was debated in the first century was the full understanding? How can we be sure that the disfellowshipping arrangement was fully understood? It would not be just for God to give first century Christians a full understanding so that they would never change beliefs and leave God’s people today in a confused state. The issue of blood and disfellowshipping are two issues that involve life and true worship. If the path of the righteous one is not clear then why are we destroying families, faith, and lives in our unyielding course to make rules from the principals of the Hebrew Scriptures? God is not so unjust so as to leave us without clear unchanging beliefs. We cannot put our trust in men that hide their error with scripture. report abuse

written by Jad , March 07, 2010 So what if the JWs have adjusted their teachings over time to reflect new understanding? Don't scientists and historians revise the college textbooks when modern discoveries and technologies help them to see old things in a new light? NO religion provides satisfying answers to every question. Remember the tale about Adam and Eve's ejection from Eden? If God had rated individuality and people's right to make independent choices more than he believed that people should follow his instructions about what to do or not do, he would probably have given these two a second chance. Every organization, religious or not, has its rules. If one day you decide that you no longer wish to follow those rules then you should just walk away and leave it behind ---without all the sour grapes and the drama. There are many things about God that I don't understand; and there are many things in the Bible that were endorsed by God that don't really seem rational or fair to me either. But, who am I to question the Almighty? God doesn't always clearly explain everything about himself or the reasons for his actions. I suppose the only way to discover the real 'truth' is to wait for God to show up at Armageddon and watch what happens. If it turns out that we made a mistake, and we end up being destroyed by him, then that's just a chance some of us are going to have to take. Perhaps then we'll discover (as did Adam and Eve) that God doesn't really care all that much about whether we like his rules or not. report abuse

written by Lynn , March 10, 2010 The society is big on telling you to take responsibility for your actions yet they do not. They have made mistakes and they have lied. Yet they say the light is getting brighter. If they loved there sheep they would say " Sorry we are not perfect we don't know" "Sorry we had it worng." Jehovah hates liers as I understand it. It is not that the light has gotton brighter its just that time has proved them wrong and instead of admitting it they cover it up with propaganda and dogma. I know people who never purchased a home because the end was supposed to come in 1975~ those people were my parents. Some of there friends cashed in savings because well you don't need that in the new system. They mess with peoples lives and do not care about what happens if the light isn't bright enough at the time. report abuse
