It is a common quote among Jehovah's Witnesses from Ecclesiastes 9:11, "time and unforeseen occurrence befall them all."
And it is exactly the combination of Time and Occurrence that is felling Watchtower leadership at this moment.
Take a moment and whisper "Timber". It is happening.
The two factors are Time and Occurrence. Time is never on the side of prophets—unless they are right. Time consistently makes a lie of Watchtower's predictions. Time has made the Governing Body completely reactive, covering and stretching the brittle pages of old bluster to fit modern reality.
I believe in Jehovah. But it has been about a month since I have gone to a meeting.
I might not have gone for the past six months, but the habit needed some time to run out. For as long as I remember, or at least as long as I have been thinking about it, I have not been mentally present.
Examine the July 2009 Awake! magazine article, "Is It Wrong To Change Your Religion?" The double standards applied to potential converts, verses Jehovah's Witnesses who are disfellowshipped or those who conscientiously choose to leave the Watchtower Organization.
Jehovah's Witnesses, active and faithful members are claiming to have the heavenly hope in great numbers. The trend is so apparent that the Governing Body changed their teaching to accomodate it. But is this new light or the beginning of a schism? (images available for download)

My videos have a community of commentors, including Jehovah's Witnesses defending their faith, adamant athiests and compassionate Christians.
With the release of Randy's Interview, a bit of a row erupted between YouTube users "RationalSkeptic" and "WithSpiritandTruth." WithSpiritandTruth, or Cindy, claims to be a fairly new Witness, that she has researched the origins, teachings and organisational structure of Jehovah's Witnesses "from all points of view."
If this is the case, Cindy is an exceptional Witness. "All points of view" would surely include banned apostate material condemned and considered poisonous by the Watchtower. And she does watch my videos, although with an apparently dim view.
Another YouTube personality comes to mind: Newagegamer3018. Newage was a adamant apologist for Jehovah's Witnesses until recently abandoning that to become born again as a Christian. His path is a dramatic and passionate reversal.
Technically any "faithful" Jehovah's Witness would never watch my videos, let alone comment and debate in a public forum. Who are these persons and what motivates them to betray their religion in order to defend it?
These sincere defenders are passionate if not specific. They "know" it is "truth" but can not provide the facts to remove the quotation marks from this sentence.
But I hold them dear, becase after all I was once just like them. Processing my doubt and testing my faith without fear. In the end we have nothing to fear from truth.

"Is it just me, or is the WT whipping the JWs up over "the end" without whipping them up so to speak? I mean, more so than they usually do?"
Both this person and I are still involved in meetings and attend assemblies. My response:
No, it is not just you.JWs are losing members as fast as they recruit them, include child baptisms. My opinion is that the Governing Body is desperate to get a sense of urgency, but they have no date to cling to anymore.
All growth spurts in the history of JWs and Bible Students were based on date predictions. The last was the promise that the end would come in "the 20th century."
Since 2000 passed, most JWs are just as eager to latch on to any crumb that these are the final days, turning them into a macabre group that feasts on bad news like information vampires.
The latest attempts to churn JWs into a froth are palpable but without substance. There is no more 1975, no "generation" clock ticking, and 1914 approaches it's centennial...
The 'urgency' propaganda from the Governing Body is hollow, and flat growth compared to spiking Memorial partakers, contrasted with the JW baby-boom since 2000 (that's a real measure of JWs complacency) will force JW policy to swerve back to date prediction.
Their only other option is mainstreaming.Either way we win.
