Ridiculous Beliefs Jehovah’s Witnesses Take for Granted

Many of the things written about the JW religion are to expose the flaws in the organization policy. It doesn’t take much digging to uncover a large amount of lies, hypocrisy, ridiculous former beliefs, sweeping things under the carpet, arrogance, and a North Korea approach to running the religion, and playing some pretty serious hardball with anyone who doesn’t play by the rules.

Plus a corporate culture where you are rewarded for being obedient, loyal and not shaking up the status quo. Like a sales organization where you are selling a faulty product, initially members seem to buy into the idea, sell it passionately, but after a while you begin to see the flaws in it, and ultimately realize that you have a dud.

1. Isolation

There is a large amount of intentional and incidental isolation that happens when you are a JW.
The advice that bad associations spoil useful gifts is one that is repeated continually.

Now, the difficult part is that each and every Jehovah’s Witness is brought up in a slightly different way. There is a certain amount of personal interpretation allowed, and there are also cultural differences between different countries.

I can only speak for my own experience, and those of the people I knew personally. I grew up in a small town in Australia, and in my early years I doubt I mixed with barely any non-Jehovah’s Witness children, and when I was at school the time I was not at school I primarily spent time with other Jehovah’s Witness children. My Jehovah’s Witness friends at the time are some of the most amazing and genuine people I have ever met.

Matt is a new writer for Free Minds. Welcome aboard Matt! - Randy

I’d really enjoy writing for Freeminds because I support you 110% and believe in your message.

The Jehovah’s Witness religion has been a massive influence on my life, and one of the things that are most important to me is using my own history and example to help others, and this hopefully means that they don’t need to go through what I did.

This is evident by my choice of career, I am a professional full-time success coach who supports others to chase their goals, live a fun life and build their self-confidence. I wish I had someone like me when I was outright discouraged from doing anything meaningful, had years of experiences that crushed me of my self-esteem and was robbed of many opportunities.

Do you like challenges, games and adventures?

I know I do!

As well as being fun as a full JW member these challenges are not against the rules. There is no chance of punishment, ruining your chances of climbing the JW ladder, getting in trouble with your family, or increasing your chances of being turned into liquid at the shortly upcoming day of death.

There are 5 challenges, and they could push you a little outside your comfort zone.

Recovering Self-Esteem

In my personal journey to rebuild myself from the Jehovah’s Witness experience very few things have had such a powerful effect as dedicating time and effort to increasing my self-esteem.

Self-esteem is a fairly misunderstood concept, and can be thrown around for a wide range of purposes, but when you fully understand it, and especially in respect of what causes your self-esteem to increase and decrease you realize very quickly that the thing that all Jehovah’s Witnesses share in common is low self-esteem. Or at least lower self-esteem than they would have if having not been in the religion.

It’s almost as if most of the practices, teaching, and mindsets are designed purely for this purpose. But why would they do this?
