Important for those wanting to leave the Watchtower

I watched all your Watchtower videos and enjoyed them very much. I would like to contribute my grain of sand by suggesting another subject for one of your videos. It is one that was very important to me as a witness and that I know is very important for others who would like to consider leaving the WTS. I refer to the trinity.

For 13 of the 23 years I was a witness, I was suspecting that they didn’t represent God on earth, I was dissatisfied with the way many things were done, I was full of doubts, but I couldn’t, just couldn’t leave, I couldn’t break away completely. Why? Because of this aversion, almost repulsion, which is implanted in all of the witnesses’ head against the belief in the trinity. Every time I thought of leaving the WTS for good, the question would always come up of “to which church can I switch if they are all Trinitarians?” The problem is that they are made to believe that the WTS is the only non-Trinitarian Christian religion, and that if there are others, they are not even worth considering. Because of this obstacle, I remained so long within the WTS and I even introduced my daughter to it.

Then surfing internet I realized that not only this was not true, there are several other non-Trinitarian denominations, but that the splinter groups born after the death of pastor Russell still exist today! What a surprise that was! That was the beginning of my liberation, no yet a year ago. I still don’t believe in the trinity, even though I have left the WTS, but I finally could understand that God can accept all Christians who go to Him through Christ, no matter what concept they have of who He is or who His Son is, as far as we live following Jesus footsteps. Jesus taught us to pray to our Father in Heaven, not to “Jehovah”; Jesus never used God’s name in prayer. If we follow his example, we can pray together with Trinitarians and non-Trinitarians alike.

Now I attend a small Lutheran church, where I never mention my non-Trinitarian beliefs and therefore have no problem worshipping together. After all our beliefs are our personal business, between us and God only. What is most important is how we live.

I hope you can consider this subject. Keep up the good work.

Mercedes

"Ye call me Lord and Master," said He on earth, "and ye do well, for so I am." Forgiveness of sins is one of God's prerogatives. "He said to the sick of the palsy, 'Son, thy sins be forgiven thee,...that ye may know that the Son of Man hath power on earth to forgive sins.'"

The wise men came at His birth to worship Him. (Matt. 2) The leper worshiped Him. They in the ship worshiped Him, as did also the ruler and woman of Canaan. Yet none were ever rebuked for it.

Even in the flesh He was "God manifest." From His character in its perfection we get our earliest and truest idea of God.

The article was written by author "L. A. A.," whom Charles T. Russell must have agreed with or Charles would not have published the article in the Watchtower!

We are very happy that you have been able to find a church where you feel comfortable in worshipping.  Your suggestion on a video dealing with the trinity doctrine is a good one which we have noted.

Thank you!

Hi Mercedes;
I left JW's in 1979 and did not go to any church until 1985. I didn't know what to believe, but I kept praying that God would direct me and kept reading the Bible through all this time.
Although there was no 'lightbulb' that went off in my mind concerning the Trinity, as well as other teachings, I came to believe in this along with other doctrines I once considered false. This was, I believe, a result of my Bible reading (King James Version as versus the NWT. "The Word was God" in John 1:1 and other verses helped me to see Jesus, not as just a created being, but as Creator.
I belong to a Orthodox Presbyterian Church since 2001. You can read about my life on FreeMinds by going to "Leaders" and "Behtelites"
Feel free to get in touch with me if you want to discuss this or anything.
Ernie
