Are the current statistics around 30,000 a year disfellowshipped? To me it seems that there is a lack of shepherding for preventive medicine if it is remaining that high. Probably 25% were preventable with a little more love and attention. Elders are not doing shepherding consistantly. There has become a practice of showing up at one's home if they hear rumors of supposed wrongdoing. Whatever happened to praise and upbuilding? I cannot remember the last time I ever heard "good job". Repect begets respect.
Freeminds responds: According to the St. Petersburg Times, USA Aug. 22, 2002 Sharon Tubbs, Times Staff Writer tells us that J.R. Brown, Watchtower spokesman describes 50,000 to 60,000 Jehovah's Witnesses are disfellowshipped every year. These were the statistics in 2002, and Brown said that this was not an unusual occurence. "Elders disfellowship 50,000 to 60,000 Witnesses around the world each year" “It’s not an unusual occurence, as far as we’re concerned,” he said." Scroll down here: http://www.religionnewsblog.com/7784 The Watchtower reports that "each year, about 40,000 individuals are disfellowshipped from Jehovah's organization" (The Watchtower, April 1, 1994, p.16 ) It seems that about 1% of active Witnesses are disfellowshipped every year but many more than this are quietly leaving without any formal action being taken against them. In the 10 years from 1996 to 2005 there were 2,968,732 baptisms, yet the increase in average publishers was only 1,439,672. This shows 1,529,060 stopped publishing. Even accounting for the average death rate, over 1 million Witnesses left in a 10 year period. ![]() written by Blueeyes54 , May 16, 2009 Thank you for the update statistics on disfellowshipped members. Jesus came to find the "lost sheep of Isreal" they were the ones the Pharisees and Sadducees threw out of the temple. We are the "lost sheep of Isreal" and he will come for us because we were thrown out of the temple. What if we are the antitypical fulfillment of those who left Jerusalem and went into the wilderness before it was destroyed. Jehovah does not dwell in hand-made temples. The love of the greater number will cool off. ![]() smile report abuse
