Randy's review of mind control issues among JWs, then audience participation on the struggles they had in leaving the Watchtower. Over 40 ex-Jehovah's Witnesses are visible and include their comments. Filmed in 1991 but still works the same way today.  First 45 minutes of the DVD only, but the full version with John Peiffer testimony is on DVD in our Store.

Recovery from the Watchtower DVD Series: full set of 7 DVDs - $59 (save $11)

About the Recovery Series:

These videos were made in the early 90s and represent a form of group therapy, with R. Watters giving a lecture on the subject, and a group of about 60 or more ex-JWs are in the audience and comment afterwards on the discussion at hand, much as in a therapy group.

If a Witness is just getting out of the Watchtower, or one who has been out for awhile but has had no interaction with others of like mind, these are the next best thing to joining a therapy group.

Some conclude with a longer personal testimony of a JW who embraced Jesus Christ as Savior. All are 90 minutes or more. These have been remastered from the original S-VHS quality so they will have better resolution than the VHS versions, but not as good as digital due to the limitations of the masters.

Free Minds believes these personal testimonies are of GREAT VALUE to those who are questioning the Watchtower or recovering from it's hold over them.

Awesome video. I just shared it with family and friends and linked to it from my site. Since my brother joined the Watchtower (through his girlfriend, now wife), I have had a burden for the Witnesses (I am a born again Christian). Thank you for helping us to better understand the mindset of JW's.

Interesting. I've left..and its pretty mad. i was cut off from everyone i ever knew. including my immediate family. its taken me years, but i changed my name to aid my recovery. or re-birth if you will. it took me a while to grow up from the stunted beginnings. i still struggle. finally, i have my siblings back after 15 years. i was raised as a JW.

SWEET! and I am sure !!You do,nt need to have any assiociation of helpers or faithfull servants!!Please!! do,nt strugle with yourself! Just come back to Jesus !Pray to HIS MAJESTY !Read the BIBLE and I am sure you will receive in the End of this world eternal body!!

I thought a lot of this video was very informational and liked it. What I didn't like is the talk about "thank God I found the right religion" and the supposition that some of us would ever rely on other people to 'help us understand the Bible correctly' again.

Consider your audience: ex-JWs- who will naturally be wary of this sort of thing ...probably forever.

I think this is great for those of us who are older but there are alot of younger ones leaving sooner than we did and they will not identify with this.
I am currently helping my 20 year old nephew through this transition of losing family and how to socalize outside the JWs. I also agree with landings about the talk of religion and God most of us are truely against going near organized religion unless it is more spirtual than ooooh listen to our God.
