I wish I would have asked for a History study, before agreeing to a Bible study with the JWs. Why?

Well, Don Cameron, author of Captives of a Concept (Anatomy of an Illusion) says it best:

“Before considering their offer of a free Bible study one should ask for a history study first in order to find out if this is in fact the organization that Jesus appointed to teach the Bible to the rest of mankind. But those who do a history study first don’t ask for a Bible Study later. And Witnesses who do a history study later (after they were baptized) realize that they should have done it before they were baptized. ”

Do you agree? I do.

Prior to the Bible Study, I didn’t know that the Watchtower (and President Rutherford at the time) owned property in San Diego called Beth Sarim in the 1930’s. And that it was deeded to David, Gideon, Samuel and a host of other servants of God. Why would they do that? Well, read an excerpt for yourself (I have underlined the meat for your convenience):

Golden Age, 3/19/30 P. 406

Both the grantor and the grantee, the said Joseph F. Rutherford are fully persuaded from the Bible testimony, which is the Word of Jehovah God, and from extraneous evidence that God’s kingdom I now in course of establishment and that it will result beneficially to the peoples of earth; that the governing power and authority will be invisible to men but that kingdom of God will have visible representatives on the earth who will have charge of the affairs of the nations under the supervision of the invisible rule Christ; that among those who will thus be faithful representatives and visible governors of the world will be David, who was once king over Israel; and Gideon, and Bark, and Samson, and Jephthae, and Joseph, formerly the ruler of Egypt, were named with approval in the Bible at Hebrews the eleventh chapter. The condition herein is that the said WATCHTOWER BIBLE AND TRACT SOCIETY shall hold said title in perpetually in trust of the use on any or all of the men above named as representatives of God’s kingdom on each and that such men shall have possession and use of said property hereinabove described s they may deem for the best interest for the work in which they are engaged.

I'm studying with the JW now and wish I has some background information on this organization before consenting to there free bible study. I belong to a different church. But that didn't seem to matter to them as they had the truth of the scriptures. Everything they teach is a lie! and I thank God that he has protected and guided me. In the furture I will make sure that I have copies of 101 things you need to know about jw's. I intend to pass out copies to friends and anyone else so they will be prepared and know how to respond to them.

My mum became a jw when i was 12 years old and it has definitley had a huge impact on the way i am today. Myself and my younger siblings were made to go to the meetings three times a week, plus have a weekly bible study and door knock on sat/sundays to preach. It ruined my teenage years and I went completely off the rails. I attemped suicide on numerous occassions, got bullied at school because of it and had to move schools twice and generally felt extremely low the whole five years we encountered of it. No one is or was caring within their society, all they do is tell you what you cannot do. Now I have come through it all and have a family of my own. It really does impact on you and i will never forget the impact it had on my childhood.

I opine that to get the credit loans from banks you should present a great reason. However, one time I've got a auto loan, just because I was willing to buy a bike.
